USA Synthetic Oils sells America’s great polyol ester-based synthetic motor oils and lubricants. We believe that a great oil is better than a mediocre oil. Nevertheless, we believe that the use of LuBoron products "is the frosting on the cake" for your lubrication needs. LuBoron products are BOUNDARY LUBRICANTS designed to protect your machinery when oil (dynamic lubrication) fails to maintain its "oil film". Why do We believe that it is desirable to offer a family of oil additives? Aren’t ALL oil additives "Snake Oils"? Emphatically NO! Not all additives are snake oils, as suggested by several oil-related forums on the internet. We suspect many of these snake oil “nay sayers” do not know the difference between MoS2 and MoDTC! Yes, there have been several oil additive product firms that have been sued by the FTC (Federal Trade Commission) including Zmax, Dura Lube, Motor Up, Prolong, Valvoline Engine Treatment, Slick 50, and STP, among others [See: Appendix-I] . Please read “Do Oil Additives Work” by Bob Sanborn ( STLE Society of Tribologists and Lubrication Engineers). Just Google the Title and Author.

Yes, we realize that there are 30,000 Amsoil dealership sites on the internet all echoing the same mantra...”just say no to oil additives”. Did you ever wonder why they all use the same exact words? Just read the above citation and the contents of this Luboron Shop. Then, you make up your own mind.

There are several oil additives that are scientifically defensible and can be effective if used appropriately. Auto-RX, Valvoline Synpower Oil Treatment (VSOT), CD2 Street Legal Oil Boost (SLOB,and Torco MPZ magnetic Friction Reducer. Of course, Motor oil producers/blenders often suggest that THEIR lubricants do not “need” any aftermarket oil additives. Get a clue, what do you think they would suggest, that their lubricants are less than perfect? If you believe that the new API SM/ILSAC GF-4 standards are aimed at minimum engine wear and maximum engine life, then you must believe in the “tooth fairy”! Ask you local Ford dealer why their automobiles sold in Europe and Asia specify 5w-30 weight motor oil, not the 5w-20 weight motor oil specified in the United States. Why, because their goal is to maximum fuel mileage and government CAFE(average fleet MPG) ratings while simultaneously minimizing emissions!

Thus, we, at USA Synthetic Oils, have invested a great deal of time researching whether there are any excellent oil additives on the market. The answer is “yes there are”! We settled on offering only two product lines and LuBoron is discussed here. We believe that their patented products are "TOP OF THE LINE PRODUCTS". The patent number for LuBoron’s (with Boron CLS Bond) line of products is 5,431,830. GOOGLE THIS PATENT NUMBER and take a look at the Boron CLS bond technology. LuBoron does NOT contain PTFE (teflon), Molybdenum disulfide, graphite, chlorinated paraffins, or any other chemicals that could prove harmful to your vehicle.

The CLS (crystal lattice structure)is based upon the discovery made by Dr. Ali Erdemir at the Argonne National Laboratories, a Department of Energy Laboratory. Argonne Laboratories is one of the U.S. Department of Energy's largest and most respected research centers.

After extensive research for NASA's Space Shuttle Program, Dr. Erdemir and his team of scientists discovered that the Hydrated Boron Molecule, milled to less than one micron (100X smaller than bacteria), forms a permanent and self replenishing bond to any metal alloy thus creating an extremely slippery surface friction coefficient measuring under 0.01%. The result is an 80% reduction in surface friction and a 90% reduction in wear!

The Boron CLS Bond™ is based on the intricate crystal lattice structure (CLS) of the hydrated boron molecules. That lattice structure allows the layers of hydrated boron particles to slide virtually friction-free over each other, like the playing cards in a fresh deck, while retaining awesome strength. The ultrafine sub-micron particles of hydrated boron reach every metal surface and crevice, lubricating with superior slipperiness as they chemically bond with the host material.

Boric acid is introduced to a metallic substrate in the presence of water vapor. Interaction between the substrate, the water (H2O), and Boric Acid (H3BO3) forms a continuously self-replenishing film of boric oxide (B2O3) that bonds to the substrate, forming a corrosion-resistant barrier. This barrier is 85% as hard as a diamond.

The boric oxide spontaneously reacts with the air, replenishing the boric acid. The boric acid molecules form into crystal platelets, each of which is a triclinic lattice of molecules strongly bound together by macromolecular covalent bonds (see microscopic photo above).

Aligned by the mechanical motion of the substrate, the platelets form stacked layers with very small (0.318 nm) spaces between. As a result, the inter-platelet layers are bound by weak "van der Waals" forces, allowing a very low coefficient of friction.

LuBoron is an Engine, Transmission, and Gear TREATMENT (Coating) NOT an Oil Additive. Oil additives change the characteristics of the oil: TBN, viscosity, flash point, pour point, etc. Moreover, they are inert. Thus, when the oil is changed, the additive goes out the drain hole! Finally, oil additives need to be renewed, some every 1,000 miles, some every 3,000 miles, and others with every oil change.

The previously mentioned products; Lube Control 20, Valvoline Synpower Oil Treatment (VSOT), CD2 Street Legal Oil Boost (SLOB,and Torco MPZ magnetic Friction Reducer, are all OIL ADDITIVES! That indicates that these products are "added" at least with every oil change.

Also, please note the difference between LuBoron and most of its oil additive/treatment competitors. Only LuBoron w/BoronCLSBond, specifically describes its chemistry (...the interaction between the metallic substrate, water (H2O), and Boric Acid (H3BO3) forms a continuously self-replenishing film of boric oxide (B2O3) that bonds to the metallic substrate; and, particle size (submicron:<.2-.5 micron). If you can find any other oil additive/treatment that reveals the chemistry of its product; element(s), compound(s), particle size, etc., then buy it!!!

For example, Restore Engine Restorer & Lubricant is one of the most popular oil additives on the market today. It is sold at: Advance Auto, Autozone, Autobarn, Carquest, Checker, K-Mart, Kragen, Canadian Tire, NAPA, O’Reilley Auto, Pep Boys, Wal-Mart... Their website is Restoreusa.com. Look at this website. How does this stuff work? What is its chemistry? What is their patent number? What is their proprietary CSL formula? Finally, like most oil additives, Restore is added at each oil change. This example was utilized to illustrate the meaning of the preceding paragraph, indicating the difference between Luboron and most of its oil additive/treatment competitors. THE TREAT/MIX RATE for all of these products (except the 2-cycle treatment) is 1 to 10: 1 pint = 16ozs.; 1 quart = 32 ozs.; 1 gallon = 128 ozs. e.g., one pint (16ozs.) treats 5 quarts (160 ozs: (5 quarts x 32ozs./quart); thus a 1 to 10 ratio.)

Engine Oil Treatment
This treatment is designed to extend the life and operating range of your engine. It blends with your existing engine oil and contains boron-based components that protect vital working parts from friction and corrosive elements. The Engine Treatment actually forms a near-diamond hard surface on metal parts, providing a super-slick surface. Unlike Teflon or Mineral Oil based products, the chemistry of Boron CLS Bond is sub micrometer to micrometer size which allows the particles to penetrate into the tightest crevices between sliding metal parts. The new surface also blocks oxygen to prevent corrosive activity. This micro-layer of protection is bonded to metal surfaces with strong covalent and ionic bonds. It provides long-lasting, low-friction surface impervious to most contaminants. LuBoron Engine Oil Treatment is compatible with all engine oils and exceeds all manufacturers¡| engine warranty requirements. Base oil used meets or exceeds A.P.I.
