Like all of our products, European Motor Oil spent a great deal of time researching the magnetic oil filter market. The first round of research was aimed at assessing the efficacy of this type of oil filtering. Does magnetic oil filtering make sense? Research suggests that 50-60% of the metallic particles in oil are ferrous. In fact, by weight, the percentage is much higher. It is these ferrous particles that makes motor oil always look dirty. Yes, these fine metallic particles ARE the dirt in the oil.
The second round in the research was does magnetic oil filtering work? The answer is emphatically YES! There is no question about it, 3..5...10...25 micron sized particles can be magnetically be removed by magnetic devices. And that leads us to the third round of research, and that is which magnetic oil filtering device on the market does the best job of attracting and "filtering out" these ferrous metallic particles?
Almost all of the magnetic filtering devices attach magnets on the exterior of the spin-on type oil filter. Some attach the magnetic(s) on one side of the spin-on oil filter. Others place the magnet on the top of the filter. There are three problems with this methodology. First, the magnet is relatively far away from the oil flow. And you know intuitively, that the further a magnet is from the iron particles the less effective it will be. Second, the magnetic field has to penetrate the substrate (the oil filter can) in order to attract the iron particles. And third, these magnets that are attached to the oil filter can can dislodge and "fall off" in the harsh and bumpy environment of the engine compartment.
This brings us to our choice, the MAGNAFILTER pre-filter! This is a "real" filter with magnet that attaches to the engine. Then, the regular spin-on oil filter screws in to the MAGNAFILTER. Problems one,two and three are solved by this design. First, the oil is flowing through, and close to the magnets. Second, the magnet is not obstructed by the spin-on oil filter can. And third, this magnetic oil filter cannot dislodge and "fall off". European Motor Oil selected this "top-of-the-line" magnetic oil filter to stock and sell on our website.
Finally, one can debate whether or not such a filter represents "overkill" or is really necessary for your engine. But you can make the similar arguments on whether it is necessary to use an excellent synthetic oil, the best oil filter, the best shifter, etc.,or any other top quality automotive components for that matter. No matter what oil filter you use, maybe the best on the market; the MAGNAFILTER oil filter will SIGNIFICANTLY reduce the ferrous particle content that is flowing through your engine and creating additional wear.
All we can say is that magnetic oil filtration really works, and MAGNAFILTER is the best magnetic oil filtration system on the market, bar none!

What are the qualities of a good oil filter? One, it should have an excellent filtering ability. Two, oil flow toward the engine should be unrestricted. Three, it should withstand the pressure from the oil pump. Otherwise, the engine will not receive its needed amount of oil for lubrication. The oil filter may also be damaged due to friction. To ensure good oil filtration under your car hood, go for a Magnafilter oil filter. A magnetic type of filter, this Magnafilter product keeps oil cleaner for a long time and extends the life of the engine to as much as six times compared to average filters. And, it does both of these while improving fuel economy. Designed for easy installation, the MAGNAFILTER oil filter can be easily mounted without affecting your vehicle's factory warranty in any way. To ensure that you enjoy the filter's longer-lasting service, perform periodic oil change and regularly inspect other filter parts like the oil filter mount or oil filter base to ensure proper filter mounting.
